Beauty DIY. How to Make Coffee-Based Skin-Tightening Scrub?

Famous among bloggers, loved by me and truly spectacular. Let me introduce the guest of today’s post – a coffee scrub. It’s a cellulite fix and remedy for supple skin. What are coffee benefits? How does a coffee scrub work? Most of all: how to make a skin tightening exfoliator at home? Read on to learn the answers.

♡ WHAT ARE COFFEE BENEFITS? ♡

Why coffee? Why not raspberry seeds, for example? They’re used for making DIY scrubs, too. There are lots of possibilities but ground coffee has gained the greatest popularity because… it’s easily available! You have a cup of coffee and instead of throwing the grounds away, you add an oil and enjoy a free scrub of amazing effects.

Why is coffee cut out for exfoliation?

  • Coffeegrounds effectively exfoliate the epidermis and smooth the skin.
  • It’s rich in caffeine that amazingly fights cellulite.
  • It gently massages the skin, stimulating the blood flow.
  • It smells amazing which additionally lifts our mood.

The secret of coffee is the caffeine I just mentioned. Thanks to this very ingredient, the firming coffee scrub delivers incredible skin benefits. Caffeine is rich in antioxidants that protect the skin from free radicals.

Regularly delivered to the skin, caffeine: reduces cellulite, tightens the skin, increases elasticity, shrinks pores, removes dead cells and brightens redness.

♡ COFFEE BODY SCRUB ♡

How to make a coffee scrub? A brewed coffee is the basis. If you often drink coffee, save the grounds regularly. Coffee maker grounds work, too. I’ve tested them – amazingly ground, beautiful aroma! You can pour a half glass of ground coffee with boiling water, wait 10 minutes and drain the excess of water off. Here’s when the fun begins…

Coffee-based exfoliator comes in different versions. The one you choose depends on the time you’ve got to prepare it. Do you want a more complicated mixture or a simple one? To be honest, I like to massage warm coffeegrounds into face skin and rinse them out.

What can you add to coffeegrounds? A fave wash gel to do a coffee scrub in the shower. A fave essential oil to relax and do some aromatherapy. A bit of cinnamon or ginger to upgrade the tightening effect. The action may be stronger depending on the ingredients you add. Coffee is just the basis.

Gentle exfoliation: coffee + oil

The mildest and definitely my favorite version. You mix coffeegrounds with 2-3 spoons of a fave oil (olive oil is recommended but you can use grapeseed, almond argan oil or coconut oil but after heating it up). The mixture is the most suitable for me because it’s ideal for the sensitive skin. The scrub has exfoliating benefits and delivers extra effects, moisturising and nourishing the skin.

Medium exfoliation: coffee + rolled oats

Oat-enriched coffee scrub is a great solution for the normal skin. It gives slightly stronger exfoliation and nourishes. You mix the coffee pulp with a spoon of rolled oats and (optionally) your favorite oil that will make the scrub glide on the skin. You can make use of the oats while fighting with dry skin as they soothe and help eliminate different blemishes.

Intensive exfoliation: coffee + sugar

Hardcore version, combining exfoliating power of coffee with harsh sugar crystals. It’s easy to prepare. Obviously you need coffeegrounds. You add two spoons of brown sugar and (optionally, for better consistency) your fave cosmetic oil. I rarely use this version of coffee exfoliator because it gives really intensive peel. It deals with calloused epidermis so it’s fit for the occasional exfoliation of the skin on elbows and feet and doing away with cellulite.

♡ HOW TO USE COFFEE SCRUB? ♡

You use the rejuvenating and tightening coffee scrub the same way you use any other mechanical exfoliator. Apply it to a chosen skin area and massage for a few minutes. Don’t use harsh motions to avoid irritation and damaged epidermis. Next, wait around five mins and rinse it out.

Obviously, as always, I had to do it over. I changed the usage for better anti-cellulite effects. After applying the mixture, I let it sit on the skin for 20 mins and secure the body with a food foil. Anyone feeling like giving the coffee body wrapping a try? 🙂
