Homemade cosmetics for face washing – serious competition for drugstore products

Hello everyone! <3

Have you run out of your face wash gel? You are running late in the morning and have no facial cleansing or exfoliating cosmetics? It happens to me all the time. I just don’t control how fast I use up the products. I manage to replace a missing toner with a chamomile infusion, but face cleansing…?

It turns out that your kitchen abounds in a variety of ingredients that you can use to wash your face. Would you like to discover the homemade face cleansing recipes? Let’s get started!

TOP 5 cosmetics found in the kitchen suitable for makeup removal and face cleansing

1. Homemade makeup removal: olive oil

Of course! There’s nothing better to cleanse the skin off cosmetics, sebum, dirt, dust, and pollutions than an oil. Do not forget about the rule that oil is best cleansed with another oil.

Olive oil will prevent blood vessels from breaking on the face so it is worth incorporating it into your daily skin care routine. 🙂

How to remove makeup with olive oil and cleanse the complexion? All you need to do is to apply a bit of warmed up olive oil (it can be any other oil, for instance, coconut oil, argan oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, whatever you have at hand). Apply it to your face and give it a gentle massage (including eyes!), the same as if you were using your regular soap or gel. Next, moisten your face and wipe it with a muslin cloth, you might as well use a diaper just make sure it’s always cleaned and washed at 90 degrees C.

2. Homemade makeup removal: baking soda

A perfect ingredient for cleansing, not just mature skin but also prone to blemishes and blackheads. Baking soda is present in every house, every kitchen and is suitable for all skin types. Only the owners of very sensitive skin should use it more gently.

How to cleanse the face with baking soda? Combine a teaspoon of baking soda and a cup of warm boiled water. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 4 tablespoons of flaxseed oil. You will get an amazing skin cleansing liquid that also removes makeup. Its application is a bit unusual. Soak a small towel in the blend (or the muslin cloth or the diaper in my case) squeeze out excess water and place it on your face for about 3 minutes. All unwanted guests will be removed from the face. Then, just wipe the complexion with lukewarm water or a toner.

3. Homemade makeup removal: green tea

Ok, I know, it’s no surprise…but somehow, green tea simply cannot be missing. Green tea will find its way to every party;))

Nobody kicks it out because it actually works wonders: it detoxifies, rejuvenates (polyphenols!), moisturizes, gives the skin a nice tone. How to clean your face with it?

Make a cup of tea – as always. Strain it to separate the leaves. Add a tablespoon of olive oil or other oil that you like and is suitable for cosmetic use (ie cold-pressed, unrefined). Just use it for makeup removal in the morning and evening (soak the cotton pad then wipe the face, you know the drill – a traditional way).

4. Homemade makeup removal: oat flakes

In my opinion, it is another component of DIY comsetics that should always be at hand. Masks, peels, baths and now face cleansing. Oat flakes take perfect care of dry and sensitive skin. How to transform them into a face cleansing cosmetic?

Pour a glass of water over 2 tablespoons of oats. Simmer for 5 minutes. Let it cool down, strain and use the liquid to wash your face. It’s best to soak a gauze or a cotton pad in it (or the muslin cloth, or a diaper) and wash your face with it.

5. Homemade makeup removal: almonds

The most exquisite DIY cosmetic out of all, simply because almonds are most expensive from the entire list;) Nevertheless, almond are a perfect remedy for discolorations. Almond milk is an amazing cosmetic to wash the face with. I do it quite often, it’s extremely easy to prepare yourself: blend about half a cup of almonds in a blender (or grind in a mortar if you’re patient enough). Personally, I like to buy flaked almonds – it’s faster and easier 😉

Then, pour 2 cups of boiling water over the blended almonds and leave it covered. Now, it’s a good way to test your patience: leave it like that for about 12 hours. After this period of time, you will get nice almond milk. Use it as a face cleansing milk:) I love it!
