How to take care of colour-treated hair?

Hello girls!

I just love my hair after colour-treating! The colour is so intense and the shine is incredible. Unfortunately, dyeing can seriously damage the strands. What to do to avoid it and enjoy vibrant colour and radiance for longer?

First of all, you must select proper cosmetics! Choose the ones intended for washing and care of dyed hair.

  • Shampoo for colour-treated hair. This type of shampoo is a bit milder. Also, it is infused with special ingredients that prolong the durability of the colour. Choose the ones with the content of natural plant extracts.
  • Conditioner for colour-treated hair. After colouring, hair suffers from protein deficiency, which is why the conditioner you use should contain high does of proteins.
  • Oil or a mask with keratin and sunscreen.

Furthermore, the appearance and condition of dyed hair is also influenced by the way we take care of it.

Washing and Care

  • Frequent washing rinses the colour, so try not to rub the shampoo into the strands, only in the scalp. During the rinse, the foam will wash the hair along the entire length.
  • Try to wash your hair with a conditioner. It affects the colour much more delicately than a shampoo.
  • The heat of the dryer and straightener causes the colour to fade. When drying, use a cool air stream. The same applies to the water temperature. The high temperature makes the scales of the hair raise and this way the colour rinses faster.
  • Do not expose hair to sunlight. If anything, make sure it’s secured with cosmetics with a UV filter. Such a filter forms a protective layer around the hair.
  • Swimming in the sea also does not affect the dye’s durability. Salty water can dry the hair and make the colour fade. It is known that it is difficult to deny yourself the pleasure of swimming in the sea. That’s why it’s good to rub oil in your hair beforehand.

I encountered the opinion that it is good to apply products that increase shine to dyed hair. However, in my case, these cosmetics have only increased dehydration. I strongly recommend you to start hair oil treatments; thanks to a well-chosen natural oil, your hair will shine and remain moisturized and nourished.

Remember that colour-treating can slightly impair the condition of your hair, so it’s worth taking care of it both before and after colouring.

Do you have any other ways to prolong the durability of the colour and improve the care of dyed hair? Please leave a comment and tell me all about it:)
