Kojic acid – the use and effects

Hello!

Kojic acid is considered the best substance for combating acne and discolourations. It is used by dermatologists, it is used by aesthetic medicine specialists, it is used by many women. What are the effects? Read my text and you’ll find out everything.

What is kojic acid?

Kojic acid was found in mushrooms found in corn seeds. It was used in cosmetics and dietetics very quickly. Kojic has antifungal, antibacterial and anti-free radical properties. Cosmetics companies obtain kojic acid during the production of Japanese wine. Most often, it is a component of soaps, night creams or alcohol-free toners. Kojic acid is safe for the skin, does not cause irritation and allergies.

How to use kojic acid?

Kojic acid can be used on its own in the right concentration. If you plan to use it by yourself, choose a cosmetic with a concentration not exceeding 4%. Apply it wherever your skin is covered with imperfections. Kojic acid loses its properties when in contact with the sun. Therefore, keep it in a tightly closed container at room temperature and away from any sources of moisture. During the treatment with kojic acid, creams with UV filters should be used on a daily basis. The substance in contact with the sun can cause serious allergic reactions and, therefore, it is safer to use it in late autumn or winter.

Kojic acid – use & effects

Products with kojic acid are recommended for people who struggle with hyperpigmentation, discolourations of different origin, scars, small wrinkles and acne. Excessive use of kojic acid (about two months) may, however, be counterproductive. The skin will become very sensitive and start to age prematurely. Other side effects of the abnormal or excessive use of kojic acid include: dermatitis, redness, rash, blistering.

Kojic acid + lactic acid = beautiful skin

Apparently, it’s the best combination of acids when it comes to skin care. Lactic acid penetrates the skin deeper and thus helps the kojic acid reach and combat all imperfections. It is recommended that the treatment with these two substances be done by an experienced person.

Kojic acid – contraindications

Contraindications to the treatment with kojic acid or the use of cosmetics with this substance are as follows: pregnancy and breastfeeding, dermatitis, epidermal damage, allergies, antibiotics used in the treatment of acne.
