My ways of extending lifespan of summer tan

Undoubtedly, golden or olive tan is an adorable remembrance of the summer rest. What should be done to let us enjoy summer tan for as long as it is possible? Luckily, there is a set of easy treatments that help you maintain this beautiful shade of your skin 🙂

Scrub

Let’s start from preparing our skin for tanning. Before we expose our body to the sun, we have to get rid of the dead epidermis cells. Removal of dead cells makes the suntan affect only the renewed layer of skin.

In other words, suntan is hidden in the skin layer located a little bit deeper, therefore, before we start sunbathing, we need to free the skin from dead epidermis cells so as to help tan affect and remain only on the renewed layer of epidermis. Moreover, when we finish sunbathing, we should also exfoliate skin to help the tan become exposed better so it will be visible longer.

Moisturisation

Bear in mind that the proper skin moisturisation starts form the inside. The skin layers which are located deeper, can be replenished with water but only from the inside. Therefore, we should do our best to drink at least 2 litres of water a day on these long sunny days. When it comes to taking care of the superficial skin layers, it is enough to pat a body balm once sunbathing is over. Naturally, drugstores are full of various creams destined to help with maintaining suntan. However, you can make your own body balm as well 🙂 All you need is a few oils.

Cocoa butter and coconut oil body balm | Recipe

  • 250 ml of cocoa butter,
  • 175 ml of melted coconut oil,
  • 175 ml of sweet almond oil.

Cocoa butter and coconut oil have to be melted together in a water bath. Then, add an almond oil and mix so as to help all the ingredients combine. After that, pour the mixture into a small bowl, put into a freezer and keep it there for 20 minutes. Next, take the balm out and keep blending until you obtain creamy consistency. Finally, you can place the DIY balm into a small container and use it for the entire summer 🙂

Diet

You will enjoy your tanned skin for considerably longer if you introduce many products rich in beta-carotene into your diet. The easiest way to supply your organism with this substance is by drinking a glass of carrot juice a day. Beta-carotene will gift your skin with this desired golden-and-brown shade.
