Hey!
Do you know that there is such thing like collagen lip mask? The first time when I came across them was on Korean beauty tradeshows. I was allured by the shapes, colors and surprisingly low prices of these masks. I bought it, tested it and wrote a review about it.
Now it’s your turn. Enjoy the reading 🙂
Korean and Japanese body care
The trend for Asian-style body care has been continuing for quite a time now. We fell in love with Korean and Japanese beauty products because we know that this is what Asian women owe their youthful look to. Luckily, we don’t have to import the cosmetic from Asia because our stores (including online shops) always have them in stock.
What makes Asian-style body care stand out? Contrary to the women living in the other parts of the world, Korean and Japanese females approach the subject of body and hair care more consciously and rationally. They pamper every single part of their bodies carefully by devoting the right amount of time to it and using only nourishing substances of natural origins.
Collagen lip masks
One of Asian beauty innovations, which I wasn’t aware of, are lip masks.
Basically, the last year in beauty revolved around lip care, I’d say. It’s reported that the number of performed lip surgeries and beauty procedures has almost doubled! And naturally, there is quite a number of novelties, including the very lip masks that seem to be a great alternative to the just-mentioned surgeries and frequently invasive procedures. But does it, really?
Lip mask. How does it work?
Asian love masks because they are perceived as a highly concentrated form of cream and, what is connected with this, work way better. And this is exactly how lip masks work – they are supposed to replace lip balms and provide lip skin with immediate, intensive regeneration and ultra fast moisturising.
In order to use it, take the mask out from the packaging and put on lips just like you would do this with collagen eye pads (after all, these two products are similar). You can remove the mask after 15 minutes so as to notice your lips being – according to what can be read on the leaflet – softer, fuller-looking, well-moisturized and smooth.
Collagen lip mask – Ingredients
Apart from collagen (naturally, this is the main ingredient of this beauty product), the composition also features glycerin, cherry extract, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, rose oil, strawberry extract, delicate fruit acids, honey, aloe extract and so on and so forth.
That’s all in terms of theory. Now, let’s move on to practice 🙂
How does lip mask look like?
To me, this is a really funny-looking beauty product.
These one-use lip masks are gel pads soaked with nourishing substances in a shape of seductive lips. So far I’ve used two masks (KNC Beauty and Pilatenu) and both versions were charmingly pink. At the first glimpse they look lovely but once taken out from the box you notice that the thing you’re holding is a really thin, gel and easy-to-tear jelly pad.
Collagen mask. How to put it on lips?
The producer describes this procedure in three steps:
- cleanse lips with water and dry them;
- take the mask out and apply to lips;
- remove the mask and massage the residing gel into lips.
Easy peasy lemon squeezy, right? Yet, there are two major problems to come. Firstly, collagen mask is much bigger than lips, hence it occupies half of the face. Secondly, it’s too sleek and flabby so it doesn’t want to stay on the right place, it doesn’t adhere to lips which makes it hardly possible to keep the mask on face. At the beginning I tended to grip the mask with my lips so as to prevent it from slipping and then I kept lying on the bed for 15 minutes without movement. I truly hate beauty products that take 15 minutes from my active lifestyle – this is the major disadvantage of lip masks.
Effects of collagen lip masks
And now the star turn – a few words on the effects. Do you want to know how these pink collagen pink masks work?
The producers claim that their beauty products moisturize, nourish, beautify and plump lips. The serum which the pads are soaked with is supposed to give lips seductive shape and get them ready for makeup. After reading all of this, I expected to win Angelina Jolie’s lips.
I was left terribly disappointed because I felt no difference at all. There was no immediate moisturising, my lips got neither plumper nor fuller-looking… To me, it’s just waste of money. Now, if somebody asked me if I’d recommend collagen lip masks, I’d say no (unless this person likes having white elephants at home).
Kisses! 🙂
