How to make this eco-shampoo? Keep reading the entry to find out how to take care of your hair in accordance with Mother Nature’s laws.
Detergent-free hair care
Both scalp and hair of each of us react in a different way to shampoos featuring either detergents or aggressive cleansing agents. In most cases, it is SLS that is responsible for irritations and dehydration. Therefore, if you use too much of a cleansing shampoo, it’s highly possible for your sebaceous glands, located in your scalp, to react with excessive sebum secretion. As a consequence, you will notice dandruff, hair will become greasy and start falling out. On the other hand, SLS makes your scalp clean and restores freshness to it.
What to use instead of SLS?
If your hair and scalp react adversely to strongly cleansing substances, you can reach for products made from ingredients delivering gentle action. In this case, you can go for CSC method or so-called cup method. The first one depends on washing hair with a conditioner, then with a shampoo and again with a conditioner. Thanks to this practice, strands become replenished with water, smoothed, glossy and protected against purifying substances that shampoos have. The second method depends on portioning washing products out and pouring them into cups. However, is it a good idea to use wholemeal rye flour shampoo instead of CSC or cup method? Let’s find out!
Wholemeal rye flour in hair care
Why wholemeal rye flour would be better to treat hair with? Because only it has lathering features that don’t leave hair clumped together. Wholemeal rye flour contains natural saponins which cleanse delicately without causing irritations. Furthermore, wholemeal rye flour is rich in pantothenic acid which delivers reinforcing action. Last but not least, this type of flour has neutral pH, counteracts static and is able to lift hair at its roots.
Wholemeal rye flour shampoo DIY
In order to prepare wholemeal rye flour shampoo DIY you will need two spoons of rye flour (500-720 type) and water. Combine the ingredients thoroughly and apply the mixture to your strands and scalp. Massage the shampoo and rinse it off using lukewarm water. Certainly, this will occupy more time than regular hair washing with the use of a shampoo but, to me and many other girls who applied this method, this additional effort is worth it. Although hair might be a little bit rough right after the procedure, with time it will become soft, smooth and shiny.
