Is Thermal Protection Really Necessary for Hair? Try Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray and See the Difference! [Review]

Hey guys, don’t you sometimes think we’ve got way too many hair products? Shampoos, conditioners, masks, oil treatments… That might be too much, however, there’s one thing which we definitely can’t give up on. It’s a heat protectant spray. Why? Today I’ll tell you what makes it a must-have, how to use it, and what happens to your hair when you don’t. I’ll also share my results after trying Nanoil’s heat protection spray.

What is heat protection?

I’m sure you already know what harms your hairdo. Even if you didn’t pay much attention to hair care in the past, now you’re visiting the blog of a hair-care buff 🙂 I’ll round up the activities that are likely to cause damage to hair. It’s coloring, bleaching, straightening, curling, blow-drying with the highest temp. We can’t do much to make the coloring or bleaching less destructive, but there’s a simple solution when it comes to heat styling.

Heat protection: how does it help?

First of all, heat protectants are made for preventing hair damage. A sudden loss of moisture is what causes damage to the hair. Few people realize that we can almost boil the moisture while heat styling! Heat protection helps use a flat-iron or dryer the right way. However, even when applying a heat protectant, we should be careful while blow-drying or straightening, using the lowest temps. To check if a dryer doesn’t burn your hair, you can try a simple test: direct the airstream onto the hand – if you can’t stand it for even 30 seconds, then your hair won’t either! Remember to use the cool airflow to seal the cuticles at the end of blow-drying.

Major tasks of a good heat protectant for hair:

  • protection against extreme temperatures and dryness
  • nourishing the hair while heat styling
  • softening the hair to make it easier to style
  • enhancing the hair throughout its length
  • light consistency not to weigh hair down

Hair without heat protection – consequences

Let’s see what happens to hair when it isn’t protected. Naturally, I checked that on my hair so you don’t need to. Just seven days were enough to see that a heat protection spray is a must! First things first…

For seven days, I would wash my hair, use a conditioner, then blow-dry and flat-iron the hair without any heat protection. What was the result? Disaster! Hair was dry throughout the length, brittle, dull-looking, plus ends started splitting. Well, that’s the effect of flat-irons, dryers and curlers which cause great harm to the hair shaft, leading to breakage and splitting.

Shockingly, I didn’t set the highest temperature on my devices! There’s an obvious conclusion: thermal protection is necessary. We should apply a good heat protectant every time we do our hair using heat.

This product also ramps up hydration levels and nourishes the hair. It is possible thanks to added natural silk proteins which deliver smoothness and soften the hair leaving it shiny and healthy-looking.

Moreover, applying it doesn’t cause any problems. It’s sprayed onto washed or dry hair before blow-drying or heat styling. The product always safeguards the hair – no matter the weather and temperature because it builds a barrier shielding against 430 degrees Fahrenheit.
