Abyssinian oil. I am testing out my new oil discovery!

Hi girls!

When I was recently replenishing my oil supplies, Abyssinian oil fell into my hands. Although I’m familiar with the subject of natural oils, this is the first time we’ve met. Naturally, I had to test it out:)

The properties of Abyssinian oil

The oil is extracted from the seeds of the Crambe abyssinica, a multibranched annual plant that has its origins in eastern Africa and was domesticated in the Mediterranean region. In these regions, the oil has been used for centuries for beauty purposes. In recent years, it has gained popularity thanks to its anti-wrinkle and regenerating properties.

It is odourless oil with a light colour. It has a light, non-sticky consistency which is why it is easy to apply to the skin or hair.

The oil contains unsaturated omega-3 acids and omega-9 fatty acid, which provide the right level of hydration. It has antioxidant properties and protects the skin against free radicals that cause loss of skin elasticity. It doesn’t only prevent the formation of wrinkles but also reduces the already existing ones. The oil also effectively protects against external factors, such as extreme temperatures or harsh wind. It soothes irritated skin and speeds up the regeneration of the epidermis, so it is worth using it after tanning. Thanks to its effective hydrating properties, it is ideal for the care of atopic skin and the treatment of eczema.

Abyssinian oil – the use and effects

Abyssinian oil is used in the production of coloured cosmetics and skin care products instead of silicones or mineral oils. Also, it works very well in the care of mature skin.

The oil is lightweight and can be used as a substitute for your regular face cream. However, if you do not like the oily consistency, you can only add a few drops of it to your favourite face moisturiser. The Abyssinian oil used on regular basis will prevent the formation of premature wrinkles.

What’s more, if you apply it to dry and damaged hair, the oil will help regenerate it. Abyssinian oil will work best during dry hair oiling but it can also be applied to damp strands after washing and towel-drying. Another very important and useful feature of the product is that it provides protection against high temperature and mechanical damage.

In my case, it works wonders when applied to the skin after taking shower. It moisturises thoroughly and does not leave the oily coating. It was the best remedy for my problems with the extremely dry skin of my hands. What I also noticed is that after regular use, it strengthened my brittle nails!

Are you tempted to try it out? Have you ever used Abyssinian oil? Make sure to leave a comment and let me know!
